UACF has recently created an Institute with funding provided by the California Endowment. The mission of the Institute will be to promote the emotional, behavioral and social well-being of children, youth and families through transformational leadership.
The Institute will build community support systems that help families reconnect with the ordinary resources and supports of everyday community life that all of us depend on. It will build bridges between family members, mental health professionals and the community-at-large; a compassionate partnership. The Institute will enable and empower families to be fully embraced respected and valued in the community. It will strengthen it's capacity to empower family members as coaches, mentors, and leaders and employ "lived experience", in conjunction with professional knowledge, practices and interventions to effect relevant change.
